Many people believe slavery ended centuries ago. The truth is that across Pakistan’s brick kilns, thousands of families are still trapped in generational bonded labor over debts as small as $800–$1,300. Born into debt they never chose, they spend their lives making bricks under extreme conditions while the amount they owe continues to grow. For many, freedom remains out of reach. Children are born into slavery instead of opportunity, carrying bricks instead of school bags and inheriting the same debt that trapped their parents.
Families work from sunrise to sunset, yet their wages barely cover daily survival while their debts continue to increase. This is not simply poverty—it is modern-day slavery. Entire generations live and die without experiencing freedom, dignity, or the chance to build a different future. A small loan becomes a lifetime of bondage, passed from parents to children, leaving families trapped in a cycle that seems impossible to break. A debt should never become a life sentence. Yet for thousands of families, it still does.
We help families escape generational bonded labor by clearing their outstanding debts and securing their freedom. We provide safe relocation, help children return to school, and equip parents with sustainable livelihood training. But freedom is only the beginning. We help families establish small businesses that provide stable incomes, enabling them to become self-reliant and support their loved ones with dignity. By creating lasting economic independence, we break the cycle of slavery and help ensure families never have to return to bondage again.

Born Into Slavery — With No Way Out
In Pakistan’s brick kilns, families are trapped in bonded labor for generations.
They inherit debt — not freedom.
Men, women, and even children work long hours under harsh conditions, yet their wages are withheld, and debts continue to grow.
This is not just poverty — it is a system of exploitation where families are controlled, abused, and denied their basic human rights.
👉 Generations are born, live, and die in slavery — without ever experiencing freedom.
How We Set Them Free

Modern-day slavery is a harsh reality in parts of Pakistan. For just $800–$1,300, entire families are trapped in generations of bonded labor. Mothers, fathers, and children work side by side at brick kilns for years, yet their wages are stolen, debts grow, and freedom remains out of reach. This is not just poverty—it is a system where families are bought, sold, and exploited, children are denied schooling, women live under constant threat, and generations have no escape.
Families are forced to work for debts they can never repay. Daily wages are withheld, loans are manipulated, and anyone who questions the system faces violence, threats, or worse. The cycle repeats, generation after generation, leaving families powerless and hopeless.
You can change this. Through the Set Them Free Initiative, Samaritan’s Fellowship Foundation rescues families, provides safe shelter, medical care, education for children, and sustainable livelihood support for adults. With your donation, a family can be freed, a child can attend school, and a girl can live safely. Choose a cause, donate today, and give a family the gift of freedom and dignity.

Although Pakistan’s Constitution clearly prohibits slavery, forced labour, and human trafficking (Article 11), thousands of families are still trapped in bonded labour, especially at brick kilns (bhattas), agricultural fields, and factories. Most of them are poor minority families who take small loans but are later forced to work for years — sometimes generations — to repay unfair debts. This is modern-day slavery. Pakistan has several fragmented laws, such as:
However, Pakistan still does NOT have a dedicated and comprehensive Modern Slavery Law. Existing laws are weakly enforced, victims have no legal protection, and there are very few rehabilitation mechanisms. As a result, many families remain stuck in abusive, exploitative, and inhumane working conditions.

Your donation is used to release families from bonded labor, provide emergency support, and help them rebuild sustainable livelihoods.
On average, it costs between $800–$1,300 to fully release a family and support their transition to freedom.
Yes. All donations are processed securely through GlobalGiving.
We provide livelihood support so families can sustain themselves and avoid falling back into debt.
It is a project by Samaritan’s Fellowship Foundation aimed at rescuing families trapped in bonded labor at brick kilns in Pakistan. The initiative provides safe shelter, education for children, livelihood support for adults, and protection from abuse and exploitation.
Entire families working in bonded labor, especially children who are denied schooling and women who are at risk of exploitation, benefit directly. Every rescued family gains freedom, safety, and opportunity to live with dignity.
Modern-day slavery includes situations where individuals or entire families are forced to work under threat, with no fair wages, and are unable to leave due to debts, coercion, or violence. In Pakistan’s brick kilns, families work for years or even generations to repay small debts, often for sums as little as $800–$1,300.
Families are forced to work together — parents, children, and even elderly — yet wages are counted as if for only one person. Debts grow every year due to withheld wages, interest, or deductions for emergencies, leaving families trapped in generational slavery.
Workers may face physical abuse, threats, killings, and abductions, especially if they question unpaid wages. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable to kidnapping and exploitation. Families are sometimes bought and sold between kiln owners, perpetuating the cycle of oppression.
For just $800–$1,300, a whole family can be freed from generational bonded labor, provided with livelihood support, and given the chance to rebuild their lives.
These families live without education, healthcare, or basic rights. Immediate intervention can rescue families, restore dignity, and break the cycle of slavery for future generations.
