Across Pakistan’s brick kilns, families are trapped in slavery by debts they cannot repay. Many borrow a small amount during a crisis, but low wages, added debt, and years of exploitation make it almost impossible to escape. Families spend long days making, carrying, and stacking bricks in extreme heat and dust, yet their earnings are barely enough to survive, let alone repay the debt.
Children are born into the same debt. Instead of going to school, many grow up working alongside their parents, carrying bricks and continuing a cycle they never chose. Entire generations can live and die without experiencing freedom or the chance to build a different future. What begins as a small loan can enslave an entire family for years—and sometimes generations.
A debt should never become a life sentence.
Freedom is more than walking away from the brick kiln. We don’t only free a generation—we end the cycle of slavery with them. After a family is freed, we focus on what comes next. We help them rebuild their lives through education, skills, and small businesses so their freedom can last. As a result, children return to school, parents gain skills to earn a living, and families build their own source of income—giving the next generation a chance to grow up free from slavery.
