Every day, under the relentless sun of Pakistan’s Sindh Desert, mothers walk 5–7 kilometers in search of water. Too often, the only source they find is a muddy pond shared with livestock. Animals drink from it, stand in it, and leave behind waste. Stray dogs also drink from the same water, while insects and reptiles roam its edges. Yet with no safer alternative, mothers must wait for the animals to move away before filling their containers with the only water their families have. Children drink it. Disease spreads. Hope fades.
